Chewable Vitamin D 1,000 IU — Orange, 100 tabs

Taste the sunshine with Jamieson’s new natural orange Vitamin D!

Well-known for the important role it plays in helping the body absorb calcium and maintain strong bones, Vitamin D also helps prevent major diseases. Few foods, however, naturally contain Vitamin D and many people cover their skin in sunlight to reduce the risk of skin cancer.

The result is that, according to the 2010 Canadian Health Measures Survey, two-thirds of Canadians are not getting adequate Vitamin D to prevent major diseases, such as cancer. Due to the recent findings in numerous studies, the Canadian Cancer Society advises that all adults in Canada talk to their healthcare practitioner about supplementing with 1,000 IU of Vitamin D daily during fall and winter months.

In addition, the Canadian Cancer Society also recommends that people at a higher risk of having low Vitamin D levels — older adults, individuals with dark skin, people who spend significant time indoors and anyone who is a heavy sunblock user or who always shields their skin in sunlight — should consider taking 1,000 IU of Vitamin D daily year-round.
